Purple Wave Petunias

Hi Frequent Gardeners,

What happened to April? I think the cool April temperatures tricked us into believing it is still early spring instead of the beginning of May! Since it IS the first week of May, many things are happening in our yards. Let me offer a few tips that may help you out.

  • Rose Slugs are out! These caterpillars (not slugs) are munching away on the undersides of rose leaves. You may either spray with Bonide Rose Rx 3 in 1 or Eight to take care of the problem.
  • Stem & Root Rot on groundcovers, like Vinca & Pachysandra, is becoming an increasing problem. Best way to take care of the problem is to prune and clean up the area where the groundcover is growing; then start a spray program using Fungonil.
  • Have you been bitten by the Vertical Gardening bug? Siebenthaler's has all the materials needed to create YOUR unique garden OR we have gardens planted and ready to take home. This new fun way of gardening is quite the craze and perfect for a patio, porch or fence. You can plant one with herbs to keep right by your grill, colorful annuals to brighten your yard or sedums or groundcovers to create a lush feel to a wall or fence. It makes a fabulous Mother's Day gift!
  • Siebenthaler's now offers custom engraved memorial stones. Create your own special message. Stones come in different sizes and finishes. A great teacher gift or memorial stone for theupcoming holiday. Please allow 3 weeks for delivery.
    • Starting this Friday, May 4th through Sunday, May 6th our Wave Petunia 6-packs are 25% off. The frost free date for planting in our area is May 15th. While many annuals hate to have 'cold feet/roots', wave petunias can tolerate colder temperatures and come in a variety of vibrant colors. A wonderful annual for a sunny area!

The sun is shining; the temperatures are warm which means a visit to Siebenthaler's Garden Centers is a must. Trucks full of new plant material are arriving daily making sure we have JUST what you need.

Finally.....The entire Siebenthaler Family would like to thank each and every one of you for your kindness and condolences regarding the passing of my dear, sweet mother, Joan Siebenthaler. Dayton is a wonderful & supportive community. We are so proud to be a part of it!

    Happy Gardening,

    Laurie
